Realme 8 Pro Unboxing and First Impressions


realme today launched the realme 8 Pro smartphone in India along with the realme 8. This is the first phone from realme to feature 108MP rear camera. It packs a 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen, 16-megapixel front camera inside the punch-hole, retains the Snapdragon 720G from the predecessor and has support for 50W  Super Dart Charge fast charging. We got hold of the phone, and here is our unboxing.

The realme 8 Pro has a 6.4-inch Full HD+ AMOLED punch-hole screen with a pixel resolution of 2400 × 1080 pixels, 20:9 aspect ratio 2.5D curved glass screen with gentle rounded corners. The display is bright, and the sunlight legibility is good as well, thanks to 1000nits peak brightness. It has 60Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate.

It has the punch-hole that houses 16-megapixel camera. The proximity and ambient light sensors are present under the screen. The earpiece is present on the top edge. Powered by Snapdragon 720G SoC with up to 8GB of RAM, the performance is good.

The phone has an in-display fingerprint scanner which is quick to unlock the phone.

Coming to the button placements, the power button and the volume rockers are present on the right side, dedicated dual SIM and microSD slots are on the left, secondary microphone is on the top, 3.5mm audio jack, primary microphone, USB Type-C port and the loudspeaker grill are present on the bottom. Audio from the speakers are decent even though it’s mono, but the realme 7 Pro has stereo speakers.

The phone features a 108-megapixel main camera with 1/1.52″ Samsung HM2 sensor, 0.7μm pixel size, f/1.88 aperture, 8-megapixel 119° ultra-wide camera with f/2.25 aperture and a 2-megapixel 4cm macro camera and a 2-megapixel B&W portrait camera  with f/2.4 aperture. It supports up to 4K 30 fps video recording. Check out some camera samples below.

Coming to the design, the phone uses AG-Crystal Process on technology that offers a smooth finish. The Infinite Blue that we have has a dreamlike and dazzling finish. The phone also comes in Infinite Black colour. It has a large Dare to Leap branding on the back. It will also sell the Illuminating Yellow version of the phone soon that uses a special fluorescent material around the camera module and the “DARE TO LEAP” slogan, which can absorb light and then glow automatically in the dark. The phone packs a 4500mAh with 50W Super Dart fast charging that can charge up to 100% charge in 47 minutes.

Priced starting at Rs. 17,999 for the 6GB RAM with 128GB storage version, the phone will be available from  Flipkart, realme.com and offline stores from tomororw, March 25th.
